iPhone · Screen Time

Minutes are something you earn.

DoomIt locks your social apps once the daily budget runs out. You get more for every phone-free night hour and for exercises the camera counts along.

Not in the store yet. Write to us and we'll send a mail when it ships.

iOS 17 or later. Requires Screen Time permission. No account, no cloud.

How it works

Three steps, then the app runs on its own.

You set it up once. After that you mostly see DoomIt in the widget — an app against screen time shouldn't cost screen time itself.

1

Pick apps and a night window

In Apple’s Screen Time picker you tap "Social" and deselect whatever you need for work. Then you set what counts as night — 10 pm to 7 am, say.

2

Hold the night, get credited

Every night hour without those apps is worth 3 minutes the next day. Check in at half past eleven and you lose that hour — not the night.

3

Top up during the day

When the budget is empty, those apps stay shut. Ten push-ups are worth 2 minutes, credited right away — not tomorrow. That delay is the whole point.

Challenges

The exchange rate.

The camera counts push-ups and squats and watches your form on the plank — all on device, with no preview image on screen. Decline camera access and you get the timer instead.

Streak

Finish both daily challenges and you bank 5 minutes. Payout comes every 5 days. At 30 days you get a joker that bridges one missed day.

When the account is empty

DoomIt offers 60 seconds of breathing, once a day, for 10 minutes. It only credits them if you still want them afterwards — often the urge is gone by then.

Privacy

DoomIt never learns which apps you block.

No account, no cloud

There's no sign-up and no server to send anything to. Budget, streak and night log live in your iPhone's own storage.

Your selection stays opaque

Apple's picker hands the app opaque tokens. It can block those apps and show their icon — which ones they are is technically unavailable to it.

The camera counts, it doesn't store

Frames go from the sensor straight into Apple's Vision analysis and are then dropped. Nothing is recorded, nothing is sent, no access to your photo library.

The full version is in the privacy policy.

The tone

The phone gets the jokes, never you.

"One hour in. Instagram hasn’t asked about you." after the first hour held
"It happens. From here every hour counts again." after a broken hour

The worse the night went, the warmer the tone. People who reach for the phone at 3 am rarely had a good evening — so the app doesn't pile on. Shame leads to uninstalling, not to change.

And the numbers stay dry: the night log says "undisturbed, +3". It does not say "crushed it, champion".

FAQ

Frequently asked

Can I get around the block?

Yes. You can revoke the permission in Settings or delete DoomIt. The app is friction, not a prison — nobody can build a lock on your own device that you can't undo. What it does: reaching for Instagram suddenly costs one extra step, and that is enough more often than you'd expect.

Do I lose minutes for turning off my alarm at night?

No. Only usage time of the apps you selected is measured. Unlocking, checking the time, taking a call — none of that counts.

Can anyone see which apps I blocked?

Not even DoomIt itself. Apple's picker hands the app opaque tokens; it can block with them and show the icon, but it cannot read which app it is. There is also no server it could send anything to.

Are camera frames stored?

No. Frames are analysed on device and discarded immediately — nothing is saved, nothing is sent. The screen stays dark during the exercise: reps are counted out loud so nobody spends 45 seconds staring at themselves.

What if I don't want to give camera access?

Then the exercise runs on a timer. The camera is ceremony, not anti-cheat: anyone determined to fake it can. It just makes faking more work than the exercise.

Does DoomIt need an account?

No. No sign-up, no email address, no sync. Everything lives on the device — which also means you start over on a new phone.

Why is the reward for putting the phone down more phone?

Because it's the entry point, not the goal. Minutes are the currency people immediately understand; alongside them the streak and the night log grow. Spend nothing and you watch something accumulate instead.

Is there an Android version?

Not for now. The blocking mechanism relies on Apple's Family Controls; an Android version would be a separate build and isn't in progress.

What does DoomIt cost?

Pricing isn't decided yet and will be added here before launch. What is decided: no ads and no data resale — there'd be nothing to sell in an app without a server anyway.
